Fall 07 Recap
The team was very pleased to host the 2nd
Annual 5k "Run for Your Life". Not as many runners turned
out for the event as we would have liked, but we plan to continute
this event as it is a great opportunity to promote awareness and
raise funds for our club.
The next event for the Fall semester was
the 11th Annual Head of the South Regatta in Augusta, Georgia.
Details about the event can be found on the Schedule
page. The team also held a letter writing campaign to help raise
funds for the club. We sent out almost 250 newsletters to alumni,
friends, and family. The newsletter
is available for viewing electronically also.
With the onset of Winter Break, our athletes
will be working out on their own for a month in preparation for
the grueling sprint season. We look forward to breaking more club
records this year, and plan on taking home some medals at the
State Championship this spring.

Spring 07 Recap
     While the Fall semester accolades
go to the Men's Team, the Spring brought great success to the
Women's squad. A sign of good things to come appeared early in
the season as the Novice Women's 4+ earned a bronze medal at the
Clemson
Sprints Regatta. The Novice Women's 8+ also had a respectable
showing, with 4th place in their flight.
      The FIRA State Championships brought
a second place finish along with a silver medal to the Novice
Women's 8+. They bested boat offerings from the University of
Tampa, and University of Florida. The Womens Varsity 2x took second
place in the state as well with a strong time of 7:51.8. FIRA

Fall 06 Recap
The Men's Novice team had a great Fall Semester, taking home gold
medals in the only two races we participated in. The first success
came at the First Coast
Head Race in Jacksonville, FL. The Men's Novice 8, consisting
of Tommy Barton (stroke), Kyle Monsen, Jared Marshall, Peter Horn,
Rutger Dungan, Will Higgins, Blake Shatto, Ryan Ash (bow), and coxswain
Callie Waers, took home 1st place amongst 2 boat offerings from
UCF and 1 from Jacksonville University. The race was rowed at 3500
meters instead of 5000 due to complications at the starting area.
The next success was at the popular Head
of the Hooch regatta in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Men's Novice
4 made a valiant display amongst a field of 34 different boats from
multiple rowing programs in the Southeastern US, taking home a gold
medal. They clocked in with a time a 16:52.3 , passing 2nd place
by 7 seconds and 3rd by a full 18 seconds. This win was a huge boost
for our club as we have never taken a gold medal at the Hooch before.
